Extroverts vs. Introverts: Who are They? How to Appeal to Different Personality Types

Extroverts and Introverts are two distinct personality types and two distinct learners. How to recognize them and appeal to an extroverted or an introverted learner. Here are some tips.

Carl Jung invented the terms "extroverted" and "introverted" . Extroverted and introverted people are two different personality types.

Extroverted people like social interactions and tend to be enthusiastic, verbal, assertive, and animated. They enjoy large social gatherings, such as parties and any kind of group activity. Extraverts find themselves energized by social interactions.
On the other hand, introverted people tend to be quiet, peaceful, and deliberate. They are not attracted to social interactions. They prefer activities they can do alone or with a close friend. Activities such as reading, writing, thinking, and inventing appeal to introverted people. Introverted people find social gatherings burdensome. They take the energy from themselves, their inner world, not from other people.

Extroverted and introverted people are different learners as well. You can observe your learner to find out to which type they belong. If your learners likes to talk, discuss topics, ask questions, you can tell they are extroverts. If your learner likes independent writing, reading,  thinks a lot before talking, does not have many friends, you can claim that your learner is an introvert. This test can help you to find out to which personality type your learner belongs.

Discovering your student's personality type is very important. Knowing if your learner is an extrovert or an introvert, you can invite them to carry out activities which will appeal to them.
You don't want your introverted learner to get stressed doing tasks which require constant communication, self-expression. Introverts would be happy to do reading and writing activities in a relaxing, quiet atmosphere. Dialogue Journals, personal letters, letters to the author will be definitely to their taste.
On the other hand, your extroverted learner might find independent reading and writing boring. Extroverted learners will get excited to share their opinion and  thoughts, create the stories on the spot and act out them, to carry out Total Physical Response commands, tutor other students, participate in interviews, heated discussions, debates, and interactive games.
Thus, trying to appeal to different personality types you will help your learner  feel comfortable, enjoy your sessions, and learn more.
